Recent Natural Disasters
- Landslide in Zhenhe, China
-Landslide in Zhenhe (Yunnan province) China buried 19 people. 18 among them are students of Youfang Elementary School.
-The landslide of 10,000 cubic meters hit Youfang Elementary School and two farmhouses in Zhenhe village.
-Local residents were immediately moved to safer ground by the local government officials. Heavy rainfall caused landslide disaster.
-Zhenhe village is located in southwestern Yunnan province which is an earthquake-prone region. Last month magnitude 5.6 earthquake in Yunnan killed several people.
Update 2
-Officials have confirmed that all the eighteen children who were missing after a landslide have confirmed dead.
Update 1
-Five are confirmed dead. Four among them are school children.
-About 2,000 local cadres, medics, police and military personnel are trying to rescue the victims.

17:06 UTC (local time 19:06; 2012/10/04 @ epicenter) - M 4.2 light shallow earthquake in Southeastern Alaska (@ 4 km depth) with epicenter located 56 km SW from Mosquito Lake. It will have well felt by the people of Covenant Life, Klukwan, Juneau and Skagway.
16:25 UTC (local time Thursday, October 04, 2012 at 08:25 AM @ epicenter) - M 4.8 moderate deep earthquake in Salta, Argentina (@ 173 km depth)with epicenter located 67 km WNW of San Antonio de los Cobres. Just a weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of San Salvador de Jujuy, Salta and Palpala.
06:11 UTC (local time Thursday, October 04, 2012 at 03:11 AM @ epicenter) - M 5.0 moderate earthquake in Mindoro, Philippines (@ 59 km depth) with epicenter located 16 km SW of Tayaman. Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Mamburao, Sablayan and Calatagan. Weak shaking will mhave felt as far as capital Manila.

-As of 09:00 UTC, TS Maliksi was located 330 nm southeast of yokosuka, Japan. - Tropical Storm Gaemi
-As of 09:00 UTC, TS Gaemi was located 615 nm east of hue, Vietnam.
-Gaemi is forecast to make landfall on Saturday, on the central Vietnamese coastline just south of Hue.
-In Bangkok, the BMA's drainage office has prepared five million sandbags. - Tropical Storm Nadine
-As of 09:00 UTC, TS Nadine was located 120 km WSW of Lajes Air Force base in the Azores.
-A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the Azores. Nadine is moving toward the northeast near 23 mph.
-Nadine has become among the top five longest-lasting cyclones in the Atlantic Ocean.

-More than 5,000 acres burned in Omak wildfire. Fire also destroyed two homes.
