M 4.7 moderate earthquake shakes Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 57 km W San cristóbal and 77 km W Santo domingo. It was 7.9 miles deep.

In 1953, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, was affected by the Santo Domingo earthquake.

Santo Domingo, known officially as Santo Domingo de Guzmán, is the capital and largest city in the Dominican Republic.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
