Earthquake is very strong but luckily it is deep (@ 150 km). The earthquake struck in the Andes mountains of south-west Colombia.

The tremor was also felt in the Ecuadorian cities of Quito, Guayaquil, Montreal, Ottawa, and Blanket Bay.
In 1999 earthquake in this area killed 1,185 people. It was of magnitude 6.1.

USGS has revised the magnitude to 7.1 with epicenter located 62 km (39 miles) SSE (149°) from Popayan.
M 7.4 massive earthquake shakes Colombia, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was located 50 km (31 miles) S (180°) from Popayan . It was 87.0 miles deep.
Tremor was widely felt across Ecuador and Colombia.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
