  • Flooding in northern province of Thailand
    -Thousands of families in Phrae's Wang Chin district displaced due to recent flooding in Thailand.
    -Floods destroyed more than 100 houses in Mae Tha, Mae Mo, Wang Nua, Chae Hom, Muang Pan and Hang Chat districts.
    -Lampang-Chae Hom Road was blocked due to a landslide caused after heavy rain.
    -About 100 out of 700 families evacuated to safer place in tambon Maesin.
    -Pa Mok, Chaiyo, Wiset Chai Chan, Pho Thong and Muang districts of Ang Thong province were declared flood disaster zones.

  • Typhoon Sanba in Japan
    -Typhoon Sanba killed one person and injured four in southwestern Japan. One person still reported to be missing.
    -Severe wind and heavy rain alerts issued for most of the southern coastal regions of South Korea.
    -All schools in Jeju island reported to be closed.

  • M 4.4 light shallow earthquake in Central Turkey (@ 17 km depth) with epicenter located 10 km NNW of Imamoglu. It will have well felt by the people of Kozan, Ceyhan and Kadirli.

  • M 5.2 moderate earthquake in Costa Rica (@ 24 km depth) with epicenter located just 8 km W of Nicoya. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Santa Cruz, Liberia, Canas, Hojancha, Jaco, Atenas, Escazu and Alajuela.

  • M 4.2 light earthquake Offshore Oaxaca, Mexico (@ 35 km depth) with epicenter located 76 km SSE of San Mateo del Mar. It will have feintly felt by the people of Salina Cruz, Santo Domingo Tehuantepec and Juchitan de Zaragoza.

Ongoing Major River Floods (Based on Satellite observation): Argentina, Australia (Darling), Brazil (Rio Paranaiba, Madeira and Tocantins), Cameroon (Benue), Chad, China (Mekong and Huang He), Colombia (Magdelena), Democratic Republic of the Congo (Ubangi), Ethiopia, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Indonesia, Kenya (Ahero Bridge), Laos (Mekong), Madagascar, Mexico, Nicaragua, Nigeria (Benue), Paraguay (Parana), Panama, Peru (Ucayali), Senegal, United States (Colorado and Ohio) and Venezuela (Orinoco).


Recent Volcanic Activity
Erupting Volcanoes: Fuego, Reventador, Villarrica, Stromboli, Erta Ale, Nyiragongo, Ol Doniyo Lengai, Sakurajima, Dukono, Semeru, Batu Tara, Manam, Ulawun, Kizimen, Karymsky and Kilauea volcano.
  • Canary Islands (Spain)/El Hierro recent volcanic activity
    -Seismic swarm continues with more than 400 quakes in last seven days.
    -Earthquake magnitude has crossed 3 which is enough to be felt by the people around El Pinar.


Recent Tropical Cyclones
  • Hurricane Nadine
    -As of 03:00 UTC, Hurricane Nadine was located 1735 km E of Bermuda and 1975 km WSW of the Azores.
    -Nadine is a category one hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson hurricane wind scale and is moving toward the east near 17 mph. No threat to land.
  • Tropical Storm Lane
    -As of 03:00 UTC, TS Lane was located 1840 km WSW of the southern tip of Baja California.
    -Lane is moving toward the west near 7 mph and strengthening is forecast in next two days. No threat to land.


Natural Disaster News
  • Heavy storms in Alaska
    -Heavy storms expected for much of south-central Alaska till late Sunday.
    -The National Weather Service has issued a high-wind warning for Anchorage, Eagle River and Turnagain Arm, along with western Prince William Sound and the western Kenai Peninsula.
    -Heavy rainfall and flooding is possible in the western Prince William Sound and the Seward area.
  • Wildfire in Camp Pendleton, United States
    -Camp Pendleton wildfire has burned about 1,000 acres.
    -No report of damage or injury. The blaze is 30 percent contained.
