M 3.3 light earthquake shakes Los Angeles, California today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake was centered in the town of Beverly Hills, about 13 km W from Los Angeles Civic Center. It was 0.1 miles deep.

Following USGS PAGER MAP, Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Beverly Hills, Westwood, West Hollywood and Culver City. Weak shaking will have felt by the people of Ladera Heights, Hollywood, Los Angeles, Anaheim, Long Beach, Santa Ana and Riverside.
(via twitter) The Los Angeles Fire Department has concluded the "Earthquake Emergency Mode" citywide ground/air survey. There is no significant damage, injury or loss of life in the City of Los Angeles we can attribute to the 3:26AM PRELIM M3.3 #earthquake near Beverly Hills. The department is now in an normal operating mode.
Beverly Hills police watch commander Sgt. Michael Publicker said his station has been getting numerous calls from anxious citizens. He said, "Every alarm in the city is going off." But he added that his patrol officers had seen no signs of structural damage.
The 2008 Chino Hills earthquake caused widespread damage across California. It was the strongest earthquake to occur in the greater Los Angeles area since the 1994 Northridge earthquake.

Beverly Hills is located on a fault called the West Beverly Hills Lineament, an extension of the powerful Newport-Inglewood Fault System that caused the second deadliest quake in California's history, notes Zev's Blog.

In the past 10 days, there has been one earthquake magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby Los Angelles.

Also there is rumor that strong earthquake is likely to hit San Francisco / Oakland today. These rumor are common when earthquake hit populated area.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
