-Flooding and landslides in Philippines killed 15 people and displaced 130,000 other.
-Eight people, including five children, were killed when a landslide buried three houses in a village in the Manila suburb of Quezon City.
-Floods and landslides were caused by heavy rains in the Philippine capital Manila and several provinces.
-All the Government offices, courts and schools were suspended in Manila and nine northern provinces due to severe disaster.

- M 5.8 very strong sea quake in Fiji (@ 12 km depth) with epicenter located 139 km WNW of Lambasa. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Nadi and Suva.
10:57 UTC (local time Wednesday, August 08, 2012 at 10:57 PM @ epicenter) - M 5.5 strong deep sea quake in Southwestern Ryukyu Islands, Japan (@ 135 km depth) with epicenter located 122 km NNW of Hirara. Just a weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Hirara, Ishigaki, Urasoe, Gushikawa, Chatan, Itoman, Tomigusuku, Naha and Taipei (Taiwan).
07:11 UTC (local time Wednesday, August 08, 2012 at 04:11 PM @ epicenter) - M 4.4 moderate shallow earthquake in Greater Los Angeles Area, California (@ 8 km depth) with epicenter located just 2 km NNE from Yorba Linda. Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Chino Hills, Placentia, Los Serranos, Anaheim, Orange, Brea and Santa Ana. Just a weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Riverside, Los Angeles, Long Beach and North Glendale.

Another 4.5 moderate earthquake in Los Angeles area after 10 hours with epicenter located just 1 km far from Yorba Linda. - M 4.8 moderate earthquake in Hokkaido, Japan (@ 60 km depth) with epicenter located just 5 km NE Shizunai. Just a weak shaking will have felt by the people of Tomakomai and Sapporo.

-A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for north of Tulum to Cabo Catoche on the East Coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, south of Belize City southward to the border of Guatemala and Celestun southward and westward to Chilitepec along the Gulf Coast of Mexico.
