Did you feel it? - Report an Earthquake
  • M 4.0 light shallow earthquake in Fyr of Macedonia (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located 6 km N Miravci. It will have well felt by the people of  Valandovo and Thessaloníki.
    16:26 UTC (local time 18:26, 2012/08/27 @ epicenter)
  • M 5.3 moderate deep earthquake in Northern Sumatra, Indonesia (@ 151 km depth) with epicenter located 32 km SSE of Parapat. Just a weak shaking will have felt by the people of Pematangsiantar, Sibolga and Bandar.

  • M 4.9 strong shallow aftershocks in Southern California (@ 9 km depth) with epicenter located 6 km N from Brawley.  Strong shaking of MMI VI will have felt by the people of Brawley and Westmorland. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Calipatria, Imperial, Niland, El Centro, Mexicali, Yuma, San Luis Rio Colorado, Indio and Tecate. More than 100 aftershocks were reported in the hours after the first earthquake hit Southern California yesterday.

  • M 7.3 very strong earthquake Offshore El Salvador (@ 20 km depth) with epicenter located 111 km S of Puerto El Triunfo. Moderate shaking of MMI V will have felt by the people of Puerto El Triunfo, Chirilagua, Jucuaran, Intipuca, Jiquilisco and Usulutan. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Managua, Tegucigalpa, Guatemala City, Mixco and San Salvador.

Recent Flash Floods 
Ongoing Major River Floods (Based on Satellite observation): Argentina, Australia (River Murray), Botswana (Selinda), Brazil (River Tocantins), Burkina Faso, Cameroon (River Benue), Chad, China (River Mekong, River Huang He and River Brahmaputra), Democratic Republic of the Congo (River Ubangi), Ethiopia, Guinea-Bissau, Honduras, Mali, Mexico, Nigeria (River Benue), Peru (River Ucayali, River Putamayo), Sudan (River Blue Nile), Uruguay, Venezuela (River Orinoco) and Zimbabwe (River Zambezi).
  • Flash floods in Zamboanga del Sur, Philippines
    -One killed and two others reported to be missing in recent flash floods in Zamboanga del Sur province of Philippines.
    -A person was killed after a flash flood caused a cargo truck to overturn in the Salug Dako River, Mahayag town in Zamboanga del Sur.

  • Tropical Storm Isaac
    -As of 15:00 UTC, TS Isaac was located 400 km S of Apalachicola Florida and 500 km se of the mouth of the Mississippi River.
    -Isaac is currently moving west-northwestward over the eastern Gulf of Mexico and poses significant storm surge threat to the northern Gulf Coast.
    -A Hurricane Warning is in effect for east of Morgan City Louisiana to Destin Florida including
    metropolitan New Orleans, Lake Pontchartrain and Lake Maurepas.
  • Typhoon Tembin
    -As of 15:00 UTC, Typhoon Tembin was located 240 nm south-southwest of Taipei, Taiwan.
  • Typhoon Bolaven
    -As of 15:00 UTC, Typhoon Bolaven was located 380 nm south-southwest of seoul, south Korea.

  • Tsunami alert for Central America and Mexico
    -Tsunami alert issued for Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Panama and Mexico following magnitude 7.3 very strong earthquake Offshore El Salvador.
    Update
    El Salvador tsunami alert cancelled shortly. The warning quickly canceled without indication whether the tidal wave caused any damage.

  • Wildfire between Avignon and Aix-en-Provence, France
    -More than 70 people evacuated due to wildfire between Avignon and Aix-en-Provence ofFrance.
    -Fire destroyed two houses and around 900 hectares of forest and arable farmlands.
  • Wildfire in Delphia Region of Montana
    -Wildfire destroyed 10 to 15 structures in south-central Montana.
    -More than 100 firefighters are battling to control the fire along with four air tankers and three helicopters.
