  • M 5.2 moderate earthquake in El Salvador (@ 73 km depth) today with epicenter located 27 km SSE of La Libertad. Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Zaragoza, Santo Tomas, San Marcos, Antiguo Cuscatlán, El Rosario, La Libertad, Mejicanos, Nueva San Salvador and San Salvador. Weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Aguilares, Ahuachapán, Santa Ana, Villa Nueva and Antigua Guatemala.

  • M 4.5 moderate deep earthquake in Hokkaido, Japan (@ 150 km depth) with epicenter located 43 km NW of Kizukuri. Just a weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Goshogawara, Namioka and Aomori-shi.

  • Tropical Storm Hector
    -As of 01:00 UTC, TS Hector was located 470 km WSW of Socorro island and 835 km SW of the southern tip of Baja California.
    -Hector has been moving erratically toward the west near 2 mph.
  • Tropical Storm Kai-Tak
    -As of 01:00 UTC, TS Kai-Tak was located approximately 210 nm north-northeast of Manila, Philippines.
    -Kai-Tak made landfall in northeastern Isabela province with maximum winds of 100 kilometers per hour and higher gusts.
