Recent Natural Disasters

• Extreme flooding in Krasnodar, Russia
  
  
  
  -Death toll from floods in Russia has risen to 146.
  -Emergency teams sent from Moscow by plane and helicoptera re woking in rescue operation.
  -Following Regional governor Alexander Tkachev, it is the worst natural disaster in last 70 years in the region.
  -Some users of social media networks in Russia said Krymsk looked like it was hit "by a tsunami"
  -President Vladimir Putin looked the situation by helicopter and had emergency talks with officials in the worst-hit town of Krymsk. He said that survivors would get new homes while families of victims would receive two million rubles ($60,800) each as a relief.
  -Worst hit Krymsk is about 200 kilometres northwest of the Black Sea resort of Sochi where Russia will host the 2014 Summer Olympic Games.
• Wildfire in Bulgaria
  -Wildfire reported near the town of Ihtiman, some 30 km away from capital Sofia.
  -At least 62 acres burned closer to Ihtiman and Bakar Dere locality.

Moderate shaking of MMI V will have felt by the people of Fort Bragg.  It will have well felt even by the people of Willits, Mendocino, Laytonville, Littleriver, Caspar, Albion, Covelo, Ukiah, Talmage, Clearlake, Cloverdale, Lakeport, Hidden Valley Lake and Kelseyville.

• M 5.8 strong shallow but harmless earthquake in Kuril Islands (@ 17 km depth) with epicenter located 268 km E of Kuril'sk (Russia). It will have faintly felt by the people of Nemuro, Shibetsu and Abashiri of Japan.

• M 3.1 weak shallow earthquake in Hawaii Region, Hawaii (@ 11 km depth) with epicenter located just 4 km NW from Paauilo. Just a weak shaking of MMI III-III will have felt by the people of Honokaa, Kukuihaele, Hilo, Kamuela, Honomu, Laupahoehoe, Ninole, Ookala, Paauilo, Papaaloa and Pepeekeo.

• M 4.8 moderate earthquake in Babuyan Islands Region, Philippines (@ 38 km depth) with epicenter located 87 km NNW of Claveria. Just a weak shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Laoag, Aparri and San Nicolas.

  -Four bridges along the Dhaulagiri trekking route in Myagdi reported to be destroyed in recent floods.
  -Snow fall triggered the flood in tourist region near Dhaulagiri base camp.

• Hurricane Daniel
  -As of 03:00 UTC, Hurricane Daniel was located 1485 km SW of the southern tip of Baja California.
  -Daniel is a category two hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson hurricane wind scale.
  -Daniel is forecast to weaken on Sunday as it moves over cooler water.
• Tropical Storm Emilia
  -As of 03:00 UTC, TS Emilia was located 930 km S of Manzanillo and about 775 km SSW of Acapulco, Mexico.
  -Emilia is a fifth tropical storm of the season formed south of Mexico.
  -Emilia is expected to become a hurricane on Sunday or early Monday.

  -A nine year girl was killed by lightning at Heidenau near southeastern city Dresden.
• Heat wave across United States

• Wildfire in Holston Mountain, Tennessee
  -Fire in Holston Mountain has burned 75-100 acres.
