Tremors were felt in most parts of Assam, Nagaland, and Manipur, besides in Bangladesh and Myanmar. It was well felt in Dhaka and parts of Chittagong and Sylhet. Seven northeastern states - Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur - are considered by seismologists to be the sixth most earthquake-prone belt in the world.

M 5.5 strong earthquake reported in Myamar (Burma)-India border region (@ 63 km depth). The epicentre of the earthquake was located at Majuli island in upper Assam. Following USGS PAGER MAP, light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Phek, Zunheboto, Kohima, Wokha, Tuensang, Mokokchung, Dimapur, Imphal, Jorhat, Itanagar and Silchar.

50 km (31 miles) SSE of Zunheboto, India
66 km (41 miles) E of Kohima, India
77 km (47 miles) SE of Wokha, India

There is report of an earthquake tremor felt in Assam area of India. There are hundreds of visitors online on this blog right now from Nagaland area too. Nagaland is a state in the far north-eastern part of India. It borders the state of Assam to the west, Arunachal Pradesh and part of Assam to the north, Burma to the east and Manipur to the south.
