-At least two children killed.
-The storm destroyed a clay house in Pluma Hidalgo. Injured people are having treatent in a hospital in the city of Huatulco.
-About 1,200 people are taking shelters in Pluma Hidalgo.

-Carlotta weaken to tropical storm over the mountains of southern Mexico. It is currently located 70 km NE of Acapulco Mexico.
-The government of Mexico has discontinued the Hurricane Warning from Salina cruz to Punta Maldonado and the Hurricane Watch from west of Punta Maldonado to Acapulco.

Carlotta forecast:
The center of Carlotta should move near or over the coast of southern Mexico late tonight and Saturday.
Reports from an Air Force Reserve hurricane hunter aircraft indicate that maximum sustained winds have increased to near 85 mph.
Update
-Carlotta became a hurricane 330 miles southeast of Acapulco with winds of 80 mph Friday morning. It was moving to the northwest at 12 mph.
-According to the National Hurricane Center, Carlotta is expected to undergo rapid intensification and could become a category two hurricane as the center approaches the southern coast of Mexico by late Friday night or on Saturday.
-Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua declared a preventive alert for the influence of Tropical Storm Carlotta.

-A hurricane warning is in effect Friday for Mexico's coast from Punta Maldonado to Acapulco.
-The hurricane's center is about 120 miles (195 kilometers) south-southeast of Puerto Angel and 330 miles (530 kilometers) southeast of Acapulco.
-Tropical Storm Carlotta has formed in the East Pacific, and is heading northwest toward the west coast of Mexico.
-As 15:00 UTC, Carlotta was located 620 km SSE of Puerto Angel Mexico and about 950 km se of Acapulco Mexico.
-Carlotta is expected to become a hurricane Friday or Friday night.
-The government of Mexico has issued a Hurricane Warning for the Pacific coast of Mexico from Salina cruz to Punta Maldonado.
