Five dams (the Keepit, Pindari, Chaffey, Copeton and Split Rock) were checked for structural faults following the earthquake. There were rumours that the quake had caused structural damage to Keepit Dam. BUT no damage were found.

A rumor that earthquake will hit Manilla and Tamworth has panicked local people. If you are one from NSW areas, please note that THERE IS NO ANY WAY TO TRACK COMING EARTHQUAKES. NO ONE IN THE NSW OR ANY PARTS OF THE WORLD CAN PREDICT/FORECAST EARTHQUAKE TO HIT ANY REGION. So is the case with NSW too. People seems to be little panicked in this region. Lot of people from Manilla and Tamworth area are asking if there is going to strike another earthquake. BUT let me tell you all, aftershocks is common but chance of strong earthquake is negligible. Generally the aftershocks are weaker than main shocks. The only reason people are active in this area is because they have felt the tremor in this region after 43 years! Click here if you felt this earthquake.
The rumors generally spread when the earthquake is massive or rare in certain area.
M 4.3 light shallow earthquake hits New South Wales, Australia (@ 17 km depth) today with epicenter located 17km W of Manilla. Light to weak shaking will have felt by the people of Tamworth, Gunnedah, Armidale and Muswellbrook.
Two light earthquakes reported in the same area.
Tremors were well felt in Manilla, Muswellbrook, Armidale, Tamworth, Gunnedah and Coonabarabran.
According to Australian Seismological Centre, these were the first earthquakes greater than magnitude 4 to strike inland northern NSW since December 1969.
Last earthquake in this region of Australia was of magnitude 5 near Coonabarabran.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
