  • Landslide in Ambon, Indonesia
    -Four killed and 10 people reported to be missing in a landslide in Ambon city (Soya) of Maluku province.
    -Five houses were destroyed in landslide which was caused after heavy rainfall.
    -Ambon is the main city and seaport of Ambon Island, and is the capital of Maluku province of Indonesia.
    -Landslides and flash floods are common natural disasters in Indonesia. It is at peak during monsoon season.
  • Floods and Landslide in China
    -Heavy rainfall caused flooding and landslides in southern and eastern China.
    -Classes also reported to be suspended at local schools.
    -Cities including Jiaxing, Taizhou and Lanxi also reported to be flooded.

    Tremors were even felt in Ahmadabad (Gujarat), Silvassa (Dadra and Nagar Haveli) and parts of Sind region (Pakistan).
  • M 6.0 strong but harmless earthquake near Aleutian Islands, Alaska (@ 21 km depth) with epicenter located 120 km WNW of Attu Station. The populated area is 800+ km far.

  • M 5.2 strong shallow earthquake Near the Southeast Coast of Australia (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter located just 10 km  SW of Moe.     Update
    -Millions across Victoria felt the tremor which lasted for 30 seconds.
    -Up to four aftershocks were felt immediately around the epicenter in the La Trobe Valley.
    -Planes were grounded for up to 10 minutes in Melbourne Airport.
  • M 3.2 minor shallow earthquake in Southern California (@ 7 km depth) with epicenter located just 10 km SE  from Ocotillo Wells. Weak shaking will have felt by the people of Salton City, Salton Sea Beach, El Centro and San Diego.

  • Colombia/Nevado del Ruiz recent volcanic activity
    -Spewing of ash and gas continues from Nevado del Ruiz volcano of central Colombia.

Flooding List
  • Flooding in Assam, India
    -Death toll has risen to six. One more body was found in a river in Morigaon district today.
    -More than 15 districts affected after a rise in the water level of the Brahmaputra and its tributaries.
  • Flooding in Japan
    -A powerful typhoon in the western Pacific is expected to cause flash flooding and mudslides in Japan over the next 24 hours.
    -About 10,400 people in coastal Ishinomaki are advised to evacuate to higher ground.

Tropical Cyclone List
  • Tropical Storm Talim
    -Tropical storm 06w (Talim) is located approximately 430 nm southwest of Taipei, Taiwan.
    -Talim is expected to bring heavy rainfall in northernmost part of the Philippines including Luzon on Wednesday or Thursday.
    -This will be third storm to enter Philippines this year. Both “Ambo” and “Butchoy,” which formed in the Pacific Ocean, did not hit land.
  • Tropical Storm Guchol
    -Tropical storm 05w (Guchol) is located approximately 110 nm west of yokosuka, Japan.
    -Evacuation order issued to more than 1,600 residents in Nachikatsuura, some 400 kilometres southwest of Tokyo.
    -Around 200 domestic flights reported to be cancelled so far because of the strong winds. Click for detail update report on tropical storm Guchol.

Natural Disaster News
  • Landslide in Cordillera, Philippines
    -Heavy rainfall caused landslide in Cordillera. Four roads in the Cordillera Administrative Region were impassable due to the disaster.
    -Typhoon Guchol (Butochy) caused heavy rainfall in this region.
  • Wildfire in Bloomfield, New Mexico
    -Three structures burned along the San Juan River in far northwestern New Mexico.
    -The fire is 30 percent contained. The fire is burning just east of Bloomfield.
