Pokhara, Nepal earthquake epicenter map

Update
-Following National Seismological Centre, epicenter was located 23 km North in Thumkodanda and Namarjung VDC.
-Few houses in Pokhara reported to be damaged. Mainly the wall of the houses reported to be cracked.
-Building of Area Police Station, Pokhara also suffered minor damage.

The closest residential area from epicenter is Mijuredada.
Pokhara is14 km far from epicenter. Pokhara is the second largest city of Nepal and headquarters of Kaski District, Gandaki Zone and the Western Developmental Region. Pokhara is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Nepal.

People of pokhara immediately rushed out of their home. They have currently gathered in nearby roads and open places. They are worried if more earthquake (aftershocks) is to come.

Nepal seismological center hasn't updated any data about this quake BUT local medias are reporting earthquake with magnitude 5.1.
The nearest populated places are Gate (18km), Karelung (17km), Ranipauwa (14km), Ghanpokhara (20km). It is a mountainous region with a maximum altitude of 8081 m.

Along the broad front of the Himalaya Mountains there have been numerous magnitude 8 earthquakes. The 15 August 1950 M8.6 Assam India earthquake is the largest instrumentally recorded earthquake in the Himalaya. The 15 January 1934 M8.1 earthquake in Bihar, India-Nepal resulted in 10,700 deaths plus extensive damage due to liquefaction.

Preliminary reports shows strong jolt to be felt around Pokhara.The epicenter is just 14 km far from Pokhara and 48 km NE Waling.

The earthquake tremor lasted for 8-10 seconds. People of Chitwan and Kathmandu are also reporting to have felt the quake. Click here if you felt any tremor

Getting preliminary report of earthquake with epicenter in Pokhara, Nepal. Powerful tremors are reported from Pokhara, Nepal.

There is report of earthquake felt in various parts of Nepal. This blog is getting most hits from western side of Nepal. It means the epicenter most be in western, Nepal.

Janaki Gurung from Pokhara, Nepal: I was watching T.V when my mother told bhukampa!! bhukampa!! we rushed out of our home. It then stopped. We are worried if more will come.
