A rumor that major earthquake will hit Cebu, Philippines has panicked people. There are many people mainly from Cebu city directed to this blog for Cebu earthquake prediction. A rumor has spread that a major quake will hit Cebu on June 21 or June 22, 2012! PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS NO ANY WAY TO TRACK COMING EARTHQUAKES. NO ONE IN CEBU OR ANY PARTS OF THE WORLD CAN PREDICT/FORECAST EARTHQUAKE TO HIT ANY REGION. So is the case with Cebu city too. Its just a rumor that earthquake will hit Cebu city today or tomorrow. Kindly write in comment section below, how did you come to know that earthquake will hit Cebu today? This blog recommends you read similar post (look comments too) about such rumor which was viral over internet that earthquake will hit the region. But as usual the prediction went wrong!
Is something big going to happen on June 21, 2012 OR June 22, 2012?
Are you serious! Now who am I to answer it :P So far I know, today is the longest day of the year (isn't it?). If your question is "Is any major quake going to hit today or tomorrow?" The straight answer is NO. Better to say Sorry, I am not one who predict earthquakes!
About Cebu earthquake prediction
*Magnitude 9.0 massive quake will Split USA in half affecting New York and New Jersey. It major affect will be seen in Cebu (Note: isn't it ridiculous!)
*Huge tidal waves will be caused after major quake which will affect Palawan region.
*Cebu will be underwater
These are the nonsense stuff which have panicked people across Philippines. Again want to remind that NOTHING AS PREDICTED WILL HAPPEN IN PHILIPPINES. If you are still stressed better wait (as nothing can be done except being safe) for tomorrow and comment that the prediction news was wrong!

An earthquake prediction is a prediction that an earthquake of a specific magnitude will occur in a particular place at a particular time.
Can anyone predict earthquakes?
Unfortunately, there is still no way to predict when an earthquake will strike. Scientists have a pretty good idea of where an earthquake is likely to strike, but there is still no way to tell exactly when it will happen, or how big it will be.
However based on scientific data, probabilities can be calculated for potential future earthquakes. For example, scientists estimate that over the next 30 years the probability of a major EQ occurring in the San Francisco Bay area is 67% and 60% in Southern California.
Neither the USGS nor Caltech nor any other scientists have ever predicted a major earthquake.
History of earthquake prediction attempts
November 29, 1999 Xiuyan, China earthquake: On November 28, 1999, the Seismological Bureau of Liaoning Province (a branch of the China Seismological Bureau) issued a prediction that earthquake will occur with magnitude between 5.0 and 5.9. And it occurred! This was a correct earthquake prediction. But how the earthquake prediction came right? The research activities, which lead to this prediction started on November 9 because two magnitude 4 earthquakes occurred. Another two magnitude 4 earthquakes occurred on November 25, and on November 26 a magnitude 4.4 earthquake. This somewhat helped to predict the quake.
June 28, 1981 Lima, USA earthquake: In Lima, USA an earthquake predicted by a scientist at the U.S. Bureau of Mines to occur on June 28, 1981, in Lima, Peru. The prediction caused popular fear and many left the city.
December 2 or 3, 1990 New Madrid, USA earthquake: In New Madrid, USA in 1989 Iben Browning predicted a major earthquake in the New Madrid fault zone of southern Missouri and specified December 2 or 3, 1990. But No earthquake occurred on those days or thereafter.
Parkfield, USA earthquake prediction: 122,000 pamphlets were mailed to residents of the Parkfield area, entitled "The Parkfield Earthquake Prediction". But earthquake did not occur until after the end of the prediction.(source wikipedia)
Can animals predict earthquakes?
The earliest reference we have to unusual animal behavior prior to a significant earthquake is from Greece in 373 BC. Rats, weasels, snakes, and centipedes reportedly left their homes and headed for safety several days before a destructive earthquake. Anecdotal evidence abounds of animals, fish, birds, reptiles, and insects exhibiting strange behavior anywhere from weeks to seconds before an earthquake. However, consistent and reliable behavior prior to seismic events, and a mechanism explaining how it could work, still eludes us.
