50 Killed In Pakistan-Afghanistan Earthquake

Disaster Report: M 5.4 strong earthquake shakes Afghanistan at 09:23 local time. The quake's epicenter was just 65 km E Baglan. Tremors reported to be felt in Kabul, Islamabad and Srinagar Kashmir.

-Around 50 people people reported to be killed after massive landslide struck Burka district. Burka district of Baghlan province is a remote mountain villages.

-Three people reported to killed.
-More than 20 houses reported to be collapsed in Burka district in the northern province of Baghlan. Another 10 houses destroyed in shkamish district in the neighbouring Takhar province.
-About 60 people are said to be trapped under rubble in Mullah Jan village in Burka.

Tremors were even felt in parts of Tajikistan, India (Kashmir) and Pakistan (Islamabad).
It was well felt in provincial capital of Peshawar and its adjoining areas, including Mardan, Charsadda and Nowshera.

Another 5.6 powerful earthquake (shallower and stronger than earlier) in Afghanistan after 27 minutes with epicenter located 174 km N of Kabul . Light to weak tremor was felt even in Capital Kabul.
According to USGS PAger Map, Light shaking of MMI IV will have felt by the people of Baghlan, Pol-e Khomri, Khanabad, Farkhar, Taloqan and Konduz. Weak shaking of MMI II-III will have felt by the people of Charikar, Tashqorghan, Paghman and Kabul.

M 5.4 strong earthquake shakes Afghanistan today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

According ot the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake epicenter was located 27 km E Nahrin and 65 km E Baglan. It was 30.4 miles deep.

People from Bagram reported that the shaking lasted for 10-15 seconds. Bagram Airfield, also referred to as Bagram Air Base, is one of the largest U.S. military bases in Afghanistan.

The 2010 Afghanistan earthquake (April 18) killed eleven people. The biggest earthquake in Afghanistan in 2010 was in Hindu Kush Region that occurred on Sep 17, 2010. Magnitude 6.3 and Depth 220.1 km

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
