M 6.9 and 6.2 two very strong earthquakes shake Gulf of California today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
According to USGS, M 6.2 strong earthquake shakes California around 12:06 local time with epicenter located 142 km (88 miles) NE of Guerrero Negro, Baja Calif. Sur, Mexico. It was 6.3 miles deep.
Another quake was recorded after nine minutes.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, another M 6.9 earthquake struck around 12:15 am (0715 GMT) in the Gulf of California, 143 kilometers (89 miles) from the town of Guerrero Negro in the Mexican state of Baja California. It was 6.4 miles deep.
The Gulf of California is a body of water that separates the Baja California Peninsula from the Mexican mainland and bordered by the states of Baja California, Baja California Sur, Sonora, and Sinaloa with a coastline of approximately 4,000 km.
Following USGS, people of Santa Isabel will have felt very strong shaking of MMI VII. Strong shaking will have by the people of Bahia Kino, San Luis and Providencia. People of Heroica Caborca and Puerto Penasco, a moderate shaking and in Empalme, Hermosillo, Heroica Nogales, Cananea and Guaymas, light shaking of MMI IV will have experienced.
An earlier quake with a magnitude of 6.5 struck in the mountains of the western state of Michoacan
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
