An earthquake with preliminary magnitude of 4.9 struck Sucre, Venezuela (Las Palomas, Estado) today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
The quake's epicenter was about 26 km SSE of Carupano, near the Caribbean coast in northeastern Venezuela, the agency said. It was 6.1 miles deep.

Venezuela, officially called the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, is a tropical country on the northern coast of South America which borders Colombia to the west, Guyana to the east, and Brazil to the south.
Last moderate earthquake in Sucre was on 11th february measuring 4.6 on richter scale.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
