Light to weak shaking will have felt in Buenos Aires, Quepos, San José, Alajuela, San Vito and other neighboring cities

-The most recent (preliminary) sulfur dioxide emission rate measurement was 600 tonnes/day on January 30, 2012; new measurements must await the return of moderate trade winds.

-Tropical cyclones Dando and Funso caused heavy rainfall and flooding
-119 000 people affected and 247 000 acres of crops destroyed by flood
-Heavy rainfall predicted this february and march, which may make the situation worse

- Tropical cyclone Giovanna/12S active in Madagascar
-Cyclone Giovanna is predicted to grow to a CAT III, with winds between 178 to 210km/h. Landfall in Madagascar on february 13
-Residents of Madagascar need to prepare for the storm's arrival and expect heavy, flooding rainfall, very rough surf conditions and Cyclone-force winds.
-Maximum significant wave height is 15 feet
-Aside is Giovanna satellite image captured at 06:00 UTC (1 a.m. EST) on February 10, 2012 by NASA. The thunderstorms around the center of circulation are higher than the surrounding clouds, and cast shadow on the lower surrounding clouds in this image (check detail update @ "Tropical Cyclone "Giovanna")
