  Jacó: Woke me up with a large jolt then followed with slight shaking. Not any damage but was awakened instantly. The first i have felt in about a year that strong
  Costa Rica: In bed in a small house above beach.  Heard it coming in my sleep and was awakened as it hit with several good jolts and rocking of house.  Lasted maybe 10 seconds and was gone. No aftershocks
  San Ramon: Experienced an earlier small quake late last year where the house swayed. This time the windows were rattling more and I believe there were three distinctive movements or tremors. Not sure as I awoke from what I perceived to be the first tremor

Recent Volcanic Activity

• Hawaii/Kilauea Recent Volcanic Activity
  -Color Code ORANGE : Alert Level WATCH
  -Seismic tremor levels were low and gas emissions were elevated
  -The most recent (preliminary) sulfur dioxide emission rate measurement was 600 tonnes/day on January 30, 2012; new measurements must await the return of moderate trade winds
  -Six earthquakes were strong enough to be located beneath Kilauea volcano on south flank faults

• Tropical Cyclone "Giovanna" active in Madagascar. This cyclone is forecasted to cause heavy damage in Madagascar late today. The maximum Storm surge height is  1.6m in Vavony. • Tropical storm "JASMINE-12" active in New Caledonia,Vanuatu,Tonga. Population affected by Category 1 (120 km/h) wind speeds or higher is 0. GREEN ALERT

Other Disasters

• Wild Fire in Uwharrie National Forest has spread in 50 acres (north-central part of the Birkhead Wilderness area). More than 30 firefighters from the forest service and other agencies are on spot to control it. However no damage to public property reported.
