  • Deadly Flood in South Eastern Brazil
    -7 died, 3000 homes destroyed

    66 towns cities in Minas Gerais state declared a state of emergency

    Last year floods killed more than 800 people in Brazil
    -The video aside by telegraphtv is of severe flooding in southeast of Brazil
  • Landslide in Southern Philippines
    -25 people died with 100 still missing
    -Worst hit is Pantukan town on Mindanao island, Philippines
    -Unregulated mining activities in that area has caused mountainside unstable
    -120 soldiers immediately send for rescue work
  • Fire in Chile's Torres del Paine national park in Patagonia (UPDATED 1/5/2012)
    -1 person died with worst hit being
    Bio Bio region where about 200 homes destroyed by fire (declared as Disaster zone)
    -48 separate fires on Sunday alone, red alerts  declared for the regions of Magallanes, Bio Bio and Maule
    -400 sq km of grassland and forest burnt in central and southern Chile (different fire)
    -Torres del Paine National Park partly reopened. Some 80% of accessible areas of the park were reopened to visitors yesterday

  • M 5.3 strong shallow earthquake in Dominican Republic (@ 10 km depth) with epicenter 55 km W of SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic (El Montazo). It will be well felt by the people of Santo Domingo, Yamasá, San José de Ocoa, San Cristóbal, Peralta, Monte Plata, Jarabacoa, Cotuí, Constanza, Bajos de Haina, Azua, Baní region of Dominican Republic. Herrera International Airport of  Dominican Republic lies just 30 km far from the epicenter. NO TSUNAMI ALERT (Category under "Natural Disasters in Dominican Republic")

    1 person is reported to be died by heart attack
    because of the fear caused the the earthquake. Three schools and hospital damaged + 12 houses damaged in Southwest

    Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic): Hubo un estruendo considerable en el edificio.

USADominican Republic: SEEMED TO ME AS IF IT LASTED ABOUT 8 TO 10 SECONDSDominican Republic: Strong Shaking, with No sound, Not too long in duration but very strong lateral movementDominican Republic: El movimiento telurico se sintio fuerte en toda la ciudad de santo Domingo  Las personas residentes en edificios  altos abandonaron los mismos en espera de replicas q no ocurrieron Hasta el momento no se han rrportado derrumbes ni muertes por el sismo
  • M 5.0 moderate shallow earthquake in Southern Iran (@ 33 km depth) with epicenter just below Konga. It will be well felt by the people of Konga, banak, Bardestan, Dayyer. People of Bushehr, Shiraz of Iran will also feel it faintly. It will be faintly felt as far as Manama, Bahrain

    recorded beneath Kilauea volcano on south flank faults
    -Satellite imagery
    also did not show any clear indications of activity except at Pu`u `O`o cone
