Recent Earthquakes

  • Magnitude 2.7 minor but very shallow earthquake (@2 km depth) in poland with epicenter just below Laziska gorne (pop 21,972), Poland.The nearby populated area is Zabrze (pop 192,177) about 9 km far from the epicenter location. It is well felt around epicenter area.

  •  Magnitude 4.5 moderate earthquake (@10.7 km depth) in Guerrero, Mexico with epicenter located 14 km S Ometepec (pop 17,801), Mexico. The nearest populated area Chilpancingo (pop 165,250) is 161 km far from the epicenter. Strong jolt will be felt by people in epicenter area with slight tremor to 100 km far.

  • Magnitude 3.8 minor earthquake in Spain but well felt around epicenter located 3 km SE Cantillana (pop 9,421), Spain. The epicenter is 26 km NE Sevilla (pop 701,894), Spain.

  • Magnitude 4.3 moderate earthquake in Taiwan with epicenter located 13 km S of populated area Hualian (pop 108,286). It is well felt around the epicenter area.

  • Magnitude 4.1 moderate earthquake in Dolakha, Nepal in mountainous region north of Charikot. Faintly felt around Dolakha. The earlier M 5.0 earthquake in Gorkha, Nepal damaged houses and was felt in capital city, Kathmandu too.

  • Magnitude 4.4 earthquake in Michoacan, Mexico with epicenter just below La ruana (pop 9,256). It will be faintly felt as depth is greater and the populated area Uruapan (pop 237,308) is 71 km SW epicenter.

  • Magnitude 5.0 earthquake (@152.3 km depth) in Indonesia with epicenter located 181 km NE Los palos (pop 17,042). It will be faintly felt by the people as the epicenter is very far from the residential area and the depth is also great.

  • Sean-11 with active storm having current maximum sustained wind speed 17 m/s. Green Alert for Bermuda.

    : Tropical storm Sean 11 has affected 66 thousand people with winds above 39mph.In addition, few people are living in coastal areas below 5m and can therefore be affected by storm surge
Recent Floods
  • Thailand Flood- Death Toll At 567

  • Orange Flood Alert In Cambodia. The flood which started with Tropical Storm, Monsoonal Rain about three months has killed 264 people till date. Approximately 13466.62 km2 area has been affected by the flood. GDACS has given this flood a severity class 2.
  • Flood in Columbia has killed 48 people and displaced 55 people within a week. People were evacuated from Manizales, Caldas region.
  • Flood in Kenya has killed 4 people till today. The flood which started a week ago has affected 41010.11 km2 area.
  • Flood in Philippines have displaced 30000 people. However no fatality is reported. Flood is still active in Boyugan East, Gawil, Poblacion and Sicade area (Category under disaster in Philippines 2011)
Recent Volcanoes 

  • Volcanic Eruption On Hierro Canary Islands located in Spain. During 2-8 November, 364 seismic events were recorded at depths of 16-23 km. During 4-5 November authorities evacuated about 80 residents from areas in Frontera due to landslide risks. Hierro contains the greatest concentration of young vents in the Canary Islands. Some days earlier, the toxic gases get mixed in the air.
    Yesterday M 3.2 earthquake stuck  in the El Golfo region.
    UPDATE
    Due to the gas eruption, the beaches between Puerto Naos and La Restinga have been closed.
  • Volcanic Eruption On Nyamuragira Democratic Republic of Congo. It is the Africa's most active volcano. Eruption still continues here in Nyamuragira.  video of eruption in Nyamuragira which shows it to be still active.However, The city of Goma, near the volcano, remains unaffected.
    The lava on Mount Nyamulagira in Congo spurted up to 300 meters high. Meanwhile Virunga Park, best known for its endangered mountain gorillas, is now inviting tourists to go on overnight treks to see a volcano spurting fountains of lava.
    UPDATE
    Lava flow have reached within 5 km of Kalengera-Tongo road. It is the area of Gorillas but they are far to be affected.
